About Us

Cross Product Design, LLC was born in 2020 in a humble basement in Buffalo, NY. Its goal was to help solve problems using engineering and do it with less waste. Over the years, CPD has expanded its capabilities and honed its methods in order to help businesses research, develop, and build sustainable and innovative products. Our background is in mechanical engineering, digital manufacturing, and hardware product development. We are passionate about creating functional, elegant, and robust products that stand the test of time.

Our small size allows us to give personal attention to each client throughout the design process. Whether you are creating a one-off part or developing a series of prototypes and preparing for mass production, we're ready. We put emphasis on clear and effective communication so that your dynamic requirements are always met.

CPD primarily serves upstate New York including Buffalo, Rochester, and surrounding areas, but we work with clients across the US and Canada.

Owen, Founder and Chief Mechanical Engineer

About Owen

Owen Wegman holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering from University at Buffalo and additional training in sustainable and circular design. He has several years of industrial experience in R&D, manufacturing, and testing. Among other things, he will handle your CAD modeling, 3D printing, and CNC machining requests. Owen's background and interests lie in digital manufacturing, sustainable design, and data-driven design. He enjoys developing customer relationships, solving real-world problems, and removing waste from products and processes.

When he's not working, Owen can be found tinkering, traveling, hiking, biking and camping around upstate New York. The best bet of exploiting him for a discount is by wooing him with nerd-speak about mountain bikes, RC cars, 3D printers, or open-source hardware.
