The best argument for good design is that it lasts. The best argument for good science is that it deplores waste."
- Stephen Bayley
What is CPD [Green]?
The products we use every day have detrimental effects on our planet. Nonrenewable energy is used for development, production, and distribution. Ecosystems are disrupted by material extraction and pollution. There are numerous perspectives from which to tackle this problem, including engineering, chemistry, legislation, and socioeconomics. CPD [Green] is our research and development initiative focused on environmental sustainability from an industrial product development perspective.
Our goal is to practice, promote, and educate others on sustainable product development. We ponder questions like: what materials are high-performing but also biodegrade after use? How can we design products intelligently to minimize waste? Can we build robust infrastructure for circularity?
Our goal is to practice, promote, and educate others on sustainable product development. We ponder questions like: what materials are high-performing but also biodegrade after use? How can we design products intelligently to minimize waste? Can we build robust infrastructure for circularity?
We're achieving our goal in 4 ways:
|
Learn About Our ResearchWe are researching environmentally friendly tools, processes, materials, and more. We'll give you a glimpse into what we're learning and share some resources to learn on your own.
|
...from our perspective, products that are not designed particularly for human and ecological health are unintelligent and inelegant... |
Design Your ProductWe'll use our expertise to make your products more sustainable, whether you are improving your current design or building from the ground-up. We function as a consultant, contractor, or anything in between.
|
Recycle Your Industrial PlasticWe created a robust network for plastic recycling right here in Buffalo, NY! If you or your business regularly produces plastic waste, Cross Product Design can facilitate its collection and ensure that it feeds back into industry, reducing landfill waste and boosting your [green] credibility.
|
Follow Our Sustainability JourneyCross Product Design is leading by example. We continuously examine all aspects of our operation in the name of sustainability. This extends to our business development, marketing, engineering, and more. We are constantly seeking and implementing new carbon-footprint-reduction strategies. What have we accomplished so far?

Get Involved
We are looking for all types of partners to help us with this endeavor. Product development sustainability is an incredibly broad topic, and we find it incredibly valuable to work with other ambitious entities. This includes but is not limited to scientists, designers, manufacturers, procurement specialists, distributors, material engineers, and just passionate individuals. Are you, or is someone you know doing important work related to sustainable product development? We want to hear about it!
